CHICAGO Illinois – Do you know of a first-class child care entrepreneur who deserves special recognition? Do you know a home-based or center-based child care provider or community activist who is committed to the child care industry? Whether your favorite provider has just jumped on the child care bandwagon, been diligently working in the industry for many years, or motivates others by example, there is a perfect award for them to stand tall in front of their peers and be added to the Child Care Applause Awards Hall of Fame nominate them today as a prospective recipient of a 2010 Child Care Applause Award at the Annual Child Care Business Expo on Saturday, May 22, 2010 presented by the Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC).
 
 “The awardees will exemplify leadership, professionalism, an entrepreneurial spirit and an extraordinary commitment to the profession of child care,” says Hedy M. Ratner, WBDC co-president. 
 
Each awardee will have an opportunity to speak at the Awards Breakfast. It is a unique chance for them to inspire other providers with their stories of success. Four awardees will be selected in the following categories:
  • Do you know a dynamic entrepreneur who has recently opened a child care business? Is he/she enthusiastic about learning everything under the sun to make the business the best it can be? Nominate that person for the Fast Track Award.
  • Does a provider you know work overtime caring for children while infusing their business with creativity and strength?Is his/her relationship with parents and children above and beyond the call of duty? Have they been a role model for other providers? Nominate that person for the Unsung Hero Provider Award
  • Do you know a super-star advocate? Does he/she possess the ability to inspire others to action? Are they taking measures to raise awareness about the need for child care and business skills in the industry? Is there a provider who is passionately working to move child care forward into the next decade? Do they share and create resources?Nominate that person for the Child Care Activist Award.
  • Do you know an elected official or community leader who has worked tirelessly to change the landscape of child care for the better? Is there a person inside a community organization doing great work for providers? Nominate that person or organization for the Child Care Award.

Award winners will be honored at the WBDC’s 12th annual Child Care Business Expo “Child Care Applause Awards Breakfast” on Saturday, May 22, at the Chicago Hilton & Towers, 720 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago. Awardees may also be community leaders at the state or local level. The Annual Child Care Expo is a day-long Conference of learning, connecting, networking, resources and inspiration

 

In addition to public recognition, the winners will receive an award and a $100 American Express gift card and free enrollment in a WBDC business seminar of their choice. Winners must be present at the 12th annual Child Care Business Expo.
