The Early Childhood Education Entrepreneurship Program is designed to provide a full range of business services to prospective and existing child care entrepreneurs for home and center-based child care businesses.  If you’re looking to become a child care provider, the WBDC services are critical in your success.  All programs and services are offered in English and Spanish.

The WBDC offers this workshop on a monthly basis at our Chicago office. Starting a Business in Illinois will help you:
  • Determine whether business ownership is right for you
  • Explore personal feasibility and how owning a business will impact your life
  • Transition from employee, volunteer, homemaker and/or independent contractor to business owner
  • Learn how to determine which legal entity is right for you
  • Discover other practical start-up steps that will help you be successful.

Step 2: Follow up with a one-on-one counseling session.

Once you are confident the child care business is right for you, sit down with one of our expert business counselors to discuss your options further and determine the correct path for you and your business.

Step 3: Register for Developing Your Child Care Business, a workshop series perfect for start-ups!

This 10-week workshop series provides prospective and established child care business owners the tools they need to launch and sustain a child care business.  You will follow a step-by-step process to develop:
  • Business & Marketing Plan
  • Policies & Procedures
  • Parent Handbook
  • Financial Analysis

Step 4: Attend the Annual Early Childhood Education Entrepreneurship Expo

The Early Childhood Education Entrepreneurship Expo is an annual event held each spring in Chicago which provides business workshops and resources to help you take your child care business to the next level!  Presented bilingually in English and Spanish, the Expo is the only event of its kind focusing on the business side of child care.  Full of dynamic interactive speed business coaching, presentations and more, the Expo brings together over 500 attendees in the child care industry!
