WBDC-MN Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Over the last ten years, the WBDC has been pleased to support the growth of women-owned businesses through its satellite office, WBDC-MN, located in Minneapolis. Currently led by program director Natasha Fedorova, with the support of associate director Katie Lang, the WBDC-MN has grown to be a hub of connections, resources and opportunities for certified Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs) throughout Minnesota and neighboring states.
In October 2003, the WBDC-MN delivered its first workshop, under the leadership of Kristin Johnson. The ABC’s of WBE Certification drew an audience of over 70 attendees. Between 2003 and 2013, office locations changed, additional staff was hired, workshop offerings expanded and WBE certified businesses in Minnesota, Western Wisconsin, South Dakota and North Dakota grew from around 30 to 330. The growth of the WBDC-MN has been directly correlated to the increasing demand for programs and services from women business owners, corporate partners and partner organizations in the area.
In 2013, the WBDC-MN will hold its 150th workshop, continuing to support WBEs and those seeking WBE certification. Many events are held in partnership with dedicated WBDC Corporate Partners, WBE supporters and the WBDC-MN founding partners. The WBDC is grateful to all of the stakeholders who have contributed to the success of the WBDC-MN and looks forward to celebrating the decade milestone at the Evening of Celebration taking place in March.
