Description of Opportunity: 


The role of the Certification Specialist is to manage the WBENC Certification program with a focus on the Minnesota region, including North and South Dakota. Responsibilities include processing applications, managing the application process internally, and supporting the ongoing program requirements as a Regional Partner Organization to WBENC. In addition, the Certification Specialist supports activities to grow the region working with the Regional Director/Twin Cities.

REPORTS TO: Managing Director of Established Business Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:

WBENC Compliance & Application Management

  • Implement and execute WBENC’s standards and procedures, and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiencies and client experience in applying for WBE and WOSB certifications
  • Process WBENC and WOSB applications and manage the application process
  • Maintain relationships with WBENC professionals
  • Prepare and submit WBENC reports as required and assigned

Client Acquisition & Services

  • Support regional initiatives
  • Position and maintain WBDC brand image as a premier women’s business development and resource organization

Corporate and Volunteer Management

  • Manage certification committee meetings, and recruit members and site visit volunteers
  • Manage volunteer site visitors

Training and Events

  • Conduct certification/procurement-related workshops for the purpose of attracting new and renewed applicants
  • Participate in and remain current in all trainings provided by WBENC; and maintain extensive knowledge of WBENC online systems
  • Work closely with Regional Director/Twin Cities to support programming

General Administration & Services

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Managing Director of Established Business Services
  • In collaboration with the WBDC Marketing department, create awareness and drive certification growth

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organization skills with ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Requires travel locally and out-of-state
  • Passionate about women’s issues and women’s economic development
  • 2-3 years progressive work experience
  • Business degree preferred
