On August 11, 2026, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued a final rule permanently eliminating the requirement for U.S. companies and U.S. persons to report beneficial ownership information (BOI) under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). The rule became effective upon publication in the Federal Register on August 14, 2026.<\/p>\n
In addition, FinCEN announced that it will remove and delete previously submitted beneficial ownership information associated with U.S. persons who are now exempt from the reporting requirements.<\/p>\n
While the new rule permanently exempts U.S. companies and U.S. individuals from BOI reporting, certain foreign entities registered to do business in the United States must continue to report beneficial ownership information for foreign individuals, as required under the revised regulations.<\/p>\n
This action makes permanent the exemptions first introduced through FinCEN’s interim final rule in March 2025 and significantly reduces compliance obligations for millions of U.S. small business owners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
