What inspired you to start your own business?
I started Hustle & Ground while recovering from a double concussion suffered in a car accident. I needed to find the ways I like to pause and take time to unwind so I could heal. Gift boxes are a great way to help people to pause as they are enjoying their gifts.
What is a business milestone or achievement that you are most proud of?
I’m proud to be WBENC certified and I’m proud to have successfully pivoted from a B2C market to a B2B market.
What challenges have you faced as a woman business owner, and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges has been to find capital that works for Hustle & Ground. I’m still working on the access to capital piece, but I’ve made some good progress lately. One of the other challenges I have faced is gaining visibility and exposure for Hustle & Ground. It takes time and networking opportunities to build relationships. Being WBE certified through WBENC and a part of the WBDC regional partner office, has provided many opportunities to meet medium to large size companies
What advice would you give to aspiring women entrepreneurs?
Keep moving forward. If you run into a stumbling block, don’t hesitate to ask for help from fellow entrepreneurs. Pivoting your business is not failure. It is a great way to care for your business and make sure that it continues to grow and move forward.
