What inspired you to start your own business?
A lack of integrity and transparency my husband was experiencing in his job. I knew we could do it better.
What is a business milestone or achievement that you are most proud of?
In October 2020, we were contacted by BASF, the largest chemical company in the world. We had been referred to them because of our service, communication, and integrity. No one calls and asks if you’d like to haul their freight! Referral is the highest form of flattery. We still do business with BASF today.
What challenges have you faced as a woman business owner, and how did you overcome them?
I lost my husband, best friend, and business partner in 2021. He was the sole sales person, and he was exceptional at it. In addition to everything else that comes with running a business, I found myself faced with something new to add to my already full plate–Sales. I decided to try to kill more birds with one stone, so to speak, by exhibiting at trade shows; the largest being the WBENC national conference.
What advice would you give to aspiring women entrepreneurs?
Before you do anything, visit sba.gov. There are so many resources there, and I happened upon them after years in business. I’ve often said, “It’s a good thing I didn’t know what I didn’t know.” The resources of the SBA would have helped me know some of those things.
