Assistance for Businesses Impacted by Civil Unrest; IL 16493 Disaster Declaration

There is a new disaster declaration related to the Civil Unrest occurring in Cook County and the surrounding counties from May 26-June 8.

Businesses of all sizes and non-profit organizations can apply for low-interest disaster loans to cover uncompensated physical losses; small businesses and most non-profits can also apply for economic injury.

Your business does not have to demonstrate physical damages to apply for economic injury. If you’ve had to close and board up as a precaution, the resulting loss of business counts as economic injury. If your business was damaged and will remain closed until repairs are completed, that is also economic injury.

Homeowners, renters, churches – they can also apply for these low-interest disaster loans if you were impacted by the civil unrest.

The SBA has a team of public affairs staff who can accommodate any schedule for a virtual presentation or ZOOM call with stakeholders, and a team of dedicated customer service reps to answer questions over the phone for disaster-impacted businesses.

Please review the attached flyer for contact information.

If a business has received PPP or a COVID-19 EIDL, they can still apply for a civil unrest disaster loan.
