What inspired you to start your own business?
During COVID, I lit candles to lift my mood.
One day, my dog, Mylo, was lethargic. I found that the culprit was candles.
I didn’t know that certain chemicals become toxic when burned – harming us and the environment.
So, I launched Companion Candles – safe candles for us and our pets. We are free of the top 250 toxins typically found in candles. When household products contain toxic chemicals or substances, they pose serious health risks to pets if ingested or inhaled. Companion Candles gives back to animal welfare organizations with every purchase made and helps minimize the chances of exposure, promoting the overall health and safety of animals.
What is a business milestone or achievement that you are most proud of?
Seeing Companion on the Today Show and GMA was truly a pinch me moment!
What challenges have you faced as a woman business owner, and how did you overcome them?
Funny enough, the CPG space is super male dominated, even today. Networking and really putting myself out there have helped me meet amazing mentors that have overcome the same issues I have had!
What advice would you give to aspiring women entrepreneurs?
There will never be a right time — go for it!
