What inspired you to start your own business?
I always had a hard time following other people’s rules!
What is a business milestone or achievement that you are most proud of?
Our 15th anniversary was really special to me. In those 15 years, I had 3 children, operated through a pandemic, moved locations 4 times and made a major pivot that completely shifted our business model.
What challenges have you faced as a woman business owner, and how did you overcome them?
Owning a small business isn’t for the weak. You have to see the big picture and lead with vision. At the same time, you have to be willing to jump in and get your hands dirty.
Access to capital is always a challenge, which I overcame by working with a local bank who is willing to work with me.
What advice would you give to aspiring women entrepreneurs?
Know your numbers. Create a solid financial plan that proves on paper that your model will be successful. Keep tweaking the model until the numbers work. Don’t ever hide from your financials. Stick to your core values and don’t ever let a customer, vendor or employee come between you and your values.
